About the Author
Garik Cruise Sadovy was born in Dallas in 1990. As a young child, he was taken with sharks, snakes, and dinosaurs; in each case, the deadlier, the better. His life up to this point might be mistaken for an elaborate attempt to steer more practical choices back to an existence in close proximity with dangerous fauna, with exciting adventures usually ensuing. He is a skeptical environmentalist and passionate storyteller.
Garik is finishing his materials science and engineering studies at NC State, where he is a Park, Udall, and Boren Scholar, as well as a former instructor for the Honors college. Beginning June 2011, Garik will be abroad in The Philippines and Indonesia, working to establish a research group in a threatened ecosystem, studying the convergence of marine natural resources, rural poverty, and Southeast Asian Islam, as well as attempting fluency in Indonesian. Just the usual. You know.
